It has been a while since I created a Japanese-style piece.
Today, December 15th, is a full moon, and I turned a melody that suddenly came to mind into this composition. Inspired by the winter seasonal word “Kan-getsu” (Cold Moon), this piece reflects the image of the full moon shining in the winter night sky, embracing the darkness (loneliness and sorrow) rather than rejecting it. Even on the coldest nights, the moon’s gentle light has a way of soothing the heart.
My new Japanese-style piano piece, Kan-getsu (Cold Moon), weaves together the chill of the winter air and the serene glow of moonlight.
I hope each listener can experience this music in their own way and find a sense of calm and warmth in it.
A world once vibrant with color transforms into monochrome in an instant.
In the midst of a crumbling world, emotions emerge—anguish, joy, sorrow, remorse, regret. These feelings blend together and eventually dissolve into "nothingness." This chaotic state inexplicably lingers in my heart, leaving an indelible impression. Through the delicate, melancholic tones of the piano, I sought to capture the fleeting beauty hidden within such a world.
As a mere observer watching the end unfold, I see a landscape filled not with pity but with a quiet serenity. This piece evokes the stillness that accompanies the moment of collapse, as if silence itself becomes a presence. Inspired by the music of NieR, I embraced the framework of "melancholic" compositions to craft a dark and fantastical world. For me, this is a form of expression.
As you listen to this piece, I hope it evokes a landscape within your own heart. It might bring forth memories of sorrow, or perhaps feelings of nostalgia and peace. Whatever emotions arise, it is their fleeting nature that makes their beauty all the more poignant.
Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen is a tale where coldness, beauty, and fear coexist. The Snow Queen, as depicted in the story, is not merely cold; her presence exudes a unique sense of majesty and power. Her icy palace is a chilling world that freezes everything it touches. Those trapped within are stripped of their emotions, transformed into beings devoid of feeling. This symbolizes the essence of her power and reflects her solitary and awe-inspiring nature.
My piano piece, The Snow Queen, captures her “coldness,” “majesty,” and the terrifying ability to render humans emotionless. Through this composition, I aim to evoke the sensation of entering her frozen world and feeling the inescapable grasp of her icy power. Rather than retelling the story, the piece focuses on portraying her essence and aura. I hope it takes you on a journey into this chilling, mysterious realm.
"Mugen" – A Winter Piano Piece Inspired by the Beauty of Transience
When we feel the touch of winter’s cold air, our hearts seem to quiet down, and at times, a wave of melancholy washes over us. "Mugen" is a piano piece that captures the unique emotions that winter brings. Snow briefly transforms the world into a silver wonderland, only to vanish just as quickly—it is this fleeting beauty that inspired this composition.
Have you ever experienced a love so dreamlike that it felt as if time itself had stopped? A moment of pure happiness, where the troubles of reality seem to melt away. And yet, when the moment passes, you are left wondering, "Was it all just a dream?"
"Mugen" portrays the brilliance of such fleeting moments of love, as well as the bittersweetness of returning to reality. Its Japanese-inspired melody gently evokes both subtle and powerful emotions, and I hope it resonates deeply within your heart.
Life itself is a journey where dreams and reality often intertwine. Sometimes, the happiness you think you've grasped fades away in an instant. Other times, in the midst of hardship, a glimmer of hope shines through.
It is in these fleeting moments of brilliance that life’s true beauty lies, don’t you think?
"Mugen" expresses the ephemeral nature of life, its sorrows, and the profound beauty that can be found within them.
I hope you can take a moment on a quiet winter night to listen to this piece. Perhaps while gazing at the snowy scenery outside your window, this music will bring warmth to your heart and offer you a serene moment of reflection.
Have you ever felt that a precious time spent with someone you love felt like this? Like being under a magical spell, it’s a special, sweet moment.
"A Dreamy Waltz" is a piece that evokes the feeling of living out the fairy tale world you dreamed of as a young girl, now realized as an adult. It’s a melody designed to bring back memories of those sweet, magical moments in life.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーThis piece was created to be experienced in many different ways.
A sweet time spent with a loved one, the dreams of a young girl on the brink of adulthood, or the reflections of a mature adult looking back on life… The impressions this piece leaves may vary depending on each person’s position and experiences. But my hope is that every woman can connect this music to her own precious memories and moments.
In fact, this piece was born from my own experience of spending a time so magical it felt like a dream. I wanted to preserve those sweet memories and express them through music.
A magical moment for every woman. I hope this piece resonates with your heart.
"Yuki Tonarite" is a piano piece that quietly accepts the fading of love. If it were possible, the wish to turn into snow and gently rest on your shoulder is embedded in the melody.
It is difficult for me to express this feeling in words, as it is something intangible. Therefore, I can only offer it in a few short sentences. However, I hope that through the music, you will deeply feel what cannot be conveyed in words. I am truly grateful if this piece resonates with you in a way that words alone cannot express.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーMemories can be both cruel and beautiful at the same time. In moments of heartbreak and loss, the emotions etched into our hearts often carry a mix of pain and beauty. "Sweet Scars" was created as a piano piece that touches the deepest corners of the soul.
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーThe title, "Sweet Scars," embodies fleeting memories that we long to hold but can never touch, as well as the bittersweetness left behind by lost love. This piece seeks to capture the wavering waves of remembrance, gently embracing the heart through tender melodies. The warmth of a hand that slips away and the sorrow that lingers beyond it—these emotions were poured into this music, hoping to resonate with listeners.
If this piece gently touches someone’s "sweet memories," as a composer, I could not be more fulfilled. I hope this music becomes a moment of solace during times of heartbreak and reflection, lingering deeply within your heart.
